June 14, 2021Meeting was called to order by S/M Branch President Len Barrett. 14 shipmates were present. 3 members checked in via Zoom including NWRP Danny Hunt.
1904 Opening Prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, and Preamble.
The minutes were called and approved as previously submitted via newsletter.
Committee Reports:
Legislative: NTR. State legislature not in session.
Youth Activities: Two medals awarded this year. Bethel and Stadium HS JROTC programs. Awards and medals delivered. Stock of medals is depleted. Request to order 4 medals.
Americanism/Patriotism: Awards out from National. One student from the Region placed at National. S/M LaChapelle advised that Peachjar is limited to 25 schools. Recommend concentrating on Sr High and Jr High Schools.
Membership: 94 members in good standing. Member “Past Due”: Eagan, Mattila. One member terminated: Ehrmann. Ready to Renew”: Allen, Brien, Hall, and Miller. Two members passed: William ‘Bill’ Casto and Melvin ‘Bud’ Moon. New member: George Gray. Mix up in processing of application for new member, Cody Colt. We usually pay for the second year for new members. Motion made to refund S/M Colt $24.00 to cover second year dues. Motion passed. We need to actively promote the FRA and recruit new members.
30 year continuous membership pin to S/M Faubion.
New member: George Gray introduced himself to the Branch.
Public Relations: Newsletter. Website up to date. Facebook. Check them out.
Finance and Audit: Still have checks. Books audited by S/M Jones
Health and Welfare: Binnacle list: S/M Len Barrett, Doug Eller, Alvie Robbins, John Johnson and Dianne Wallace, Nita Casto. Bill Casto’s service is 23 June, 1030 at Tahoma. Celebration of Life at Puyallup Elks at 1300. Everyone invited.
VAVS: Needs at American Lake remain same.

Treasurers Report: Submitted via Newsletter. Treasurers report approved.
Unfinished Business: (1) Regional Convention, one day event. Saturday, AUG 28. LaQuinta in Tacoma. Looking for max participation from Branch members. We have to meet a minimum food and beverage to avoid extra charges for meeting room. Volunteers needed for 2 Bell Ceremony and MAA. Mike Batnick volunteered to be MAA at Regional. John Johnson and PRPNW Bill Hall will do the 2 Bell. (2) National Convention in Spokane Valley 02-09 OCT at Mirabeau Park Hotel and Convention Center. Request from Region to provide item for ditty bags representative of our area. Ideas?? Enough for 75 ditty bags. (3) Participation in the Puyallup Memorial Day Program in Pioneer Park. S/M Johnson and Faubion did the Two Bell Ceremony. FRA wreath presented by S/M McInerney and Snider. (4) S/M Jones requested clarification about continuation of placing brass plates on the Memorial Boards. Motion to continue passed. (5) Call for attendees at Regional Convention so delegate forms can be filled out.
New Business: (1) Washington State Fair is back on the schedule. Denny Nelson called and dates for booth setup will be 19-20 SEP. Confirmed that Branch 104 will have a booth.
Installation of Officers by PNP John Johnson: President: Len Barrett, Secretary: Rex Faubion, Treasurer: Russ Peters, Board of Directors: Jim Jones, Jim Wallace, Tom Shriver, Rich Wilson, Mike Batnick.
Good of the Order: (1) S/M Wallace advised that recent donations by the Puyallup Food Bank have gone to Washington Soldiers Home and to VA Puget Sound Homeless Veteran Program. (2) S/M Leanne Pollard was presented the Patrick Henry Silver Award by the Military Order of World Wars on 13 June for her work in the NJROTC program at Spanaway Lakes and Stadium HS. And for her work at Stadium with Massing of the Colors.
