Meeting for January was conducted via online meeting application, ZOM.COM, and was hosted by S/M Branch President Len Barrett. Following Shipmates checked in and participated in the meeting: Bill Casto, Rex Faubion, Don Felthouse, Jim Jones, John Johnson, Ernie LaChapelle, Russ Peters, Alvie Robbins, Jim Wallace and Rich Wilson.
1906 Opening Prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, and Preamble.
The minutes were called and approved as previously submitted via newsletter.
Committee Reports:
Legislative: Legislative session started today.
Youth Activities: NTR.
Americanism/Patriotism: Judging for essay contest completed by S/M Barrett, Faubion, Felthouse, Johnson, and Jones. Entries to Region by 01 FEB. Still need to do the interim A/P report to submit with entries. Four (4) entries going to Region in grades 9, 10, 11, & 12. Three of these entries were homeschoolers. S/M Johnson working on certificates. Copy of winners to S/M Peters for writing checks.
Membership: 94 members in good standing. “Ready to Renew”: Ehrman, Luton, and Peters. Recent transfer/new member from Branch 18: Autumn Majack.
Public Relations: Newsletter. Website up to date. Facebook page is active.
Finance and Audit: Looking good. Still have checks.
Health and Welfare: Binnacle list: S/M Len Barrett, Doug Eller, Bill Casto, Alvie Robbins, Cliff Magnussen, Jorge Ramirez, and Tom Shriver.
VAVS: S/M Felthouse reported there was $510.00 in donations of sleeping bags, tarps, and music cds to American Lake. Toiletry items donated have been delivered. Tarps are needed on a regular basis. Looking for 8x10 and 8x11 tarps. If you have additional items to donate contact S/M Felthouse.
Communications: (1) Newsbytes. Military survey online. (2) Scuttlebutt-NW Region Newsletter. Add Region President, VP, and Secretary/Treasurer to distribution on our Newsletter. (3) Letter from WA Soldiers Home in Orting thanking Branch 104 for their $250.00 donation. (4) Thank you from USO Seatac for $75.00 donation. (5) Thank you from Navy Marine Corps Relief in Bremerton for $150.00 donation. (6) FRA Membership Newsletter.
Treasurers Report: Submitted via Newsletter. Treasurers report approved.
Unfinished Business: (1) Tiny Homes - WA Soldiers Home at Orting is coming on line in MAR 2021. 35 Tiny Homes supporting homeless veterans in the area. There is a need to support equipping the tiny homes and community center. Requesting donations of kitchen and household items. Motion was made by S/M Jones to purchase a set of pots/pans not to exceed $150.00. S/M Batnick second. Motion passed. (2) 2020 Regional Convention, 24-26 AUG, which Branch 104 is hosting.
New Business: NTR.
Good of the Order: (1) Community Based Outpatient Care coming online in Sunrise area of South Hill Puyallup. 11102 Sunrise. (2) VA Eye Clinic is open for appointments. Call (253) 583-1250.
